The University of The Gambia, on Thursday, received a consignment of 6000 face masks and 10 infrared thermometers from the United Nations Development Programme- The Gambia.
In receiving the donated items, vice chancellor Prof. Faqir Muhammad Anjum thanked the UNDP for the strengthening the university’s efforts in preventing the spread of the Covid-19.
“These masks and thermometers are very timely because we are on the verge of conducting our end of the examination and this equipment is very crucial in that regard”, he said.
Prof. Pierre Gomez, chairman of the Task Force, charged with the responsibility of overseeing the online lectures, extended his gratitude to the UNDP. He explained that UTG will conduct exams for more than 6000 students which is challenging considering the global pandemic.
Ajara Ceesay, a representative of the UNDP said her institution is happy to support institutions like The Univerity of The Gambia fight against the coronavirus, which is a global pandemic. She revealed that the face masks were all locally produced.
