School of Agriculture & Environment Sciences
The main goal of the of the school is to provide the human resource base required to manage and develop the country’s agriculture and natural resources (land, marine and aquatic) in a sustainable manner in order to provide food, employment, income and recreational resources for the people of The Gambia.
The programme seeks to produce graduates who are academically skilled, professionally competent and innovative. The curriculum combines applied experiences, with a good mix of on- campus courses. These include research projects, field attachments and farm practice.
The Four-Year Programme (Regular)
All the courses are core courses. There is an option in the fourth year between crops or animal production depending on the candidate’s area of interest. There are also the university General Education Requirements of a total of 27 credit hours. A research project is compulsory for graduation. A minimum of 120 credit hours is needed for graduation. This programme started in the 2007/2008 academic year.
The Two-Year Programme (Intergrated Curriculum)
This is for candidates who have successfully completed the Higher Diploma course in Agriculture (HDA) with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.2 and above. There are also the university General Education Requirements of a total of 27 credit hours for graduation. A research project is compulsory and there is also an option at the final year (year two) for a crops or animal production bias. A minimum of 92 credit hours is required for graduation

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Admission criteria/requirements for both fresh and mature students seeking to transition into the BSc Agriculture program at the University of The Gambia (UTG) in the School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, it is important to understand the general admissions process and specific departmental entry standards.
1. Fresh Students from Senior or O’Level
Students who have completed High/Senior secondary must have five credits in any subject area. However, must have at least pass in English and Mathematics with credits in specific subjects that align with their chosen field of study. In addition students who have no credit in English and mathematics will be given a conditional admission and must re-sit WASSCE and obtain a credit before graduation
2. Transition Candidates:
A candidate with a Higher Diploma in Agriculture from any recognized College or higher institutions of learning seeking for transition to University of the Gambia must have a CGPA of 3.00 with a pass in English and Mathematics. However, a provisional admissions will be given to candidate without a pass in mathematics or English in their WASSECE. The candidate must re-sit before graduating from the University.

3. Mature
Mature candidates interested in pursuing a degree at the School of Agriculture MUST be 25 year and above with three years of work experience in agricultural sector. Also the candidate must have at least a pass (7) in English or Mathematics plus three other credits which MUST include Agriculture Science and any other related subjects.

TUITION FEE
The annual tuition fee is GMD 34,900 and $ 3,750 for both local and international students respectively.This is payable in two equal installments before or at the commencement of the semester. It is worth noting that, UTG only allows students that pay at least 40% of the due fees to sit to examinations. These payments can be made at any of the various Trust Bank Ltd. Branches across the country. The university is notified of this payment and you’re cleared to attend classes and sit to the examinations.
Agriculture And Environment Science Students Association (AESSA)
AESSA like the rest of the sub associations within the University of The Gambia, represents the interest of all students within the school of Agriculture. The association safeguards and serves as an intermediary between the student body and the management of the school. They engage in meaningful student activities such as tree-plantings, cleansing exercises, an annual nationwide tour and a host of other activities and programmes relevant to their area of study.
DIPLOMA IN CLIMATE ACTION
1. Educational Background
A minimum of Senior Secondary School education (WASSCE or its equivalent) with passes in English Language, Mathematics, and at least one Science subject; or a relevant certificate-level qualification from a recognized institution in related fields such as Environmental Studies, Agriculture, Development Studies, Education, Health Sciences, or other allied disciplines.
2. Language Proficiency
Demonstrated proficiency in English, the language of instruction, evidenced through prior academic qualifications, official transcripts, or an assessment where deemed necessary.
3. Statement of Interest
Submission of a written Statement of Interest clearly articulating the applicant’s motivation for enrolment and demonstrating how the programme aligns with their career aspirations and/or intended contribution to community or national development.
4.Professional Experience (Mature Entry)
Applicants aged twenty-five (25) years and above who possess a minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience in climate action, environmental management, or development-related fields may be considered for admission, subject to a successful interview and/or competency assessment.
Tuition Fee
The Tuition Fee for this Course is Twenty-Six Thousand, Five Hundred Dalasis (D26,500).
