School of Medicine & Allied Health Sciences

The School of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences is critical to addressing the health sector needs of the country especially in prevention and curative medicine. It also engages in research on tropical diseases and medicine and is located within the premises of the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul.

The school is comprised of three departments. They are the departments of Medicine, Nursing and Public Health and environment. However, the Dean of the school oversees the all the three departments.

Students are availed with a wide range of highly qualified lecturers from around the world. The school has lecturers from Cuba, Nigeria and other countries in addition to the home-based lecturers.

Tuition Fee

The annual tuition fee is D40,000 for Gambians and $ 4,950 for international students. Students have the option of paying the whole amount or half of the amount per semester (D20,000/$2475). It is worth noting that, UTG only allows students that pay at least 40% of the due fees to sit to examinations. These payments can be made at any of the various Trust Bank Ltd. Branches across the country. The university is notified of this payment and you’re cleared to attend classes and sit to the examinations.

 

UNIGAMSA

Students studying medicine are automatically part of the University of The Gambia Medical Students Association. This student body serves as a liaison between the administration and the students and also organizes extracurricular activities.
