Five (5) Credits at WASSCE / GCE O’ Level at not more than two sittings with credit in English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science and any relevant science/social science subject.
Candidates with first degree in Agriculture or related disciplines from UTG with a CQPA of 2.50 on a 4.30 scale or other approved/recognized University with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division with CQPA of 3.00 on a scale of 5.00 scale.

WASCAL (West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land
Use) is a large-scale research-focused Climate Service Centre headquartered in Accra,
Ghana and has 10 Lead Universities in West Africa, UTG being one of those 10 Lead
Universities. The UTG/WASCAL Program is designed to help tackle climate change
challenges through education and research, thereby enhancing the resilience of Gambian
citizens, especially Gambian farmers, and environmental systems, respectively. The
Program does so by strengthening the research infrastructure and capacity building at
UTG Farafenni Campus that are related to climate change by pooling the expertise of
Gambians, nine other West African countries, and Germany. UTG Farafenni Campus
already graduated two batches of 10 international students per batch at the M.Sc. degree
level in Climate Change and Education. That M.Sc. degree program is now put on hold
until further notice. In the place of the M.Sc. degree program, UTG Farafenni Campus
will now start a Ph.D. degree program in Climate Change and Education by the first
Quarter of 2019. The whole UTG/WASCAL Program is fully funded by the German
Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The UTG/WASCAL Program is
implemented in a collaborative effort by West African and German partners. In summary,
the UTG/WASCAL Program contributes to the education of the next generation of
Gambians and West African scientists and policy makers in the field of climate change
and land management.
A new and an upcoming one-month Certificate in Climate Change Program will be
introduced by UTG Farafenni Campus by the beginning of 2019. This Certificate
program will be tailor-made for any person (Gambian or non-Gambian) who has at least
completed a Grade 12 level of education and can read, write, and operate a computer. The
objective of the Certificate program is to enable every registered student to basically
understand what climate change is and how climate change impacts lives and livelihoods
in The Gambia because climate change impacts ALL sectors of The Gambia economy.
The Certificate Program will be self-funded. That is, registered students have to pay to be
enrolled in the program.
Another new degree program called UTG/LUCCC Program will also be offered at UTG
Farafenni Campus in the early part of 2019. The program will get funding from UNDP
and UNEP, respectively, and the degree programs will range from Certificate to Ph.D
degree levels. The first phase of the UTG/LUCCC Program will run from 2019 to 2030.
The program is a South-South initiative which was created by 11 Least Developed
Countries (LDCs) in the world and The Gambia is one of those LDCs that created the
Program. The objective of the Program is for a long term capacity building in LDCs in
the areas of adaptation and mitigation. When the programs at UTG Farafenni Campus are
launched, there will be funds for Gambian students to enroll in the degree program that is
offered at the time of enrolment.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Agronomy with specialization in:

Candidate seeking admission into PhD programme must possess the combination of (i), (ii) and (iii) as stated below:
- Five (5) Credits at WASSCE / GCE O’ Level at not more than two sittings with credit in English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science and any relevant science/social science subject.
ii. Candidates with first degree in Agriculture or related disciplines from UTG with a CGPA of 2.50 on a 4.30 scale or other approved/recognized University with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division with CQPA of 3.00 on a scale of 5.00 scale.
iii. Candidates in addition to the B.Sc. degree must have Masters degree in Agriculture or related discipline from recognized Institutions with a minimum CQPA of 3.00 on a 4.30 scale or an average result not below 60%.
iv. Candidates who in addition to i, ii and iii above have successfully completed the M.Phil programme with an average score not below 60%.

A candidate seeking admission for the Ph.D. in Law program of University of The Gambia must possess the following Minimum Requirement:
A Master of Law Degree (L.L.M) of University of The Gambia or any other institution recognized by University of The Gambia.
An LLM/MPHIL Law degree of the University of the Gambia or any other University recognized by University of The Gambia.
The candidate must possess the foundational Degree, which is Bachelor of Laws (L.L.B)
The candidate’s transcript must disclose that he has a minimum CQPA of 3.00 points on a scale of 4.30 points or 60%.
The candidate must submit three referees report, attesting to his competence and state of mind to pursue the program.
