On March 16, Vice Chancellor Professor Herbert Robinson met with Ma Jianchun, Ambassador to The People’s Republic of China in The Gambia, at the Chinese Embassy. Attending the meeting were Professor Momodou Jain, DVC-Administration of the UTG, Mr. Li Xiaoquan, Director of Political Affairs of the Chinese Embassy, Mr. Zhang Chao, Director of the Confucius Institute of the UTG, and Mr. Mbakeh Camara, Director of International Relations & Innovation (UTG).
Professor Robinson thanked the Chinese Embassy for its strong support to the UTG and expressed his willingness to strengthen cooperation with the Chinese Embassy in the fields of capacity training and agriculture, so as to cultivate more talents for the development of The Gambia and contribute more to the China-Gambia friendship.
H.E. Ambassador Ma congratulated our new Vice Chancellor Professor Robinson on his appointment, introduced the fruitful achievements of the China-Gambia cooperation in the fields of health, agriculture and infrastructure, and highly valued the important role played by the UTG in the people-to-people exchanges between China and the Gambia. Ambassador Ma said that since its establishment in 2019, the Confucius Institute of the UTG has become an important platform for exchanges and cooperation between China and the Gambia in the fields of culture and education.
