Job Title: Lecturer Positions

Job Overview
As Lecturer, you will be directly answerable to the Head of Department and be responsible for teaching, grading, taking time with students to check and assess their assignments and research works. Engage with the broader Scholarly and Professional Communities and carry out research and produce publications in reputable journals.
Qualification and Experience
Assistant Lecturer: For appointment to this position a candidate shall normally possess a good Bachelor Degree and a Master Degree with course work and thesis in the subject of specialisation in which the candidate is seeking appointment.
Lecturer II: The usual basic qualification for appointment or promotions to this position shall be the Ph.D. degree or its equivalent. However, a candidate without a Ph.D. but who possesses a Master degree with course work and thesis in the subject of specialisation with a minimum of two years post qualification teaching experience in a university or institution of similar status may also be considered for appointment to Lecturer II
Lecturer I: For appointment to the position of Lecturer I persons without a Ph.D. but who possesses at least a Master degree with course work and thesis in the subject of specialisation should normally have a minimum of 2 years post qualification teaching experience in a university or institution of similar status and at least two good publications. Ph.D. holders, with a one-year teaching experience, may also be considered
Senior Lecturer: For appointment to the position of Senior Lecturer the candidate should normally have had not less than two years teaching experience as Lecturer I in a university or institution of similar status and must have at least three good publications in reputable journals since his/her appointment as Lecturer I. He/she must also show evidence of ability to provide academic leadership, including the ability to initiate and supervise research.
Associate Professor: Appointment/promotion to the Grade of Associate Professor shall be on the basis of continuing scholarly achievement, expressed in the form of publications in reputable journals (normally a minimum of four good publications since appointment as Senior Lecturer). A total of seven peer-reviewed publications or 70 points shall be required. The candidate must have had at least 8 years of teaching and research experience in a university or Institution of similar status. The candidate must also show evidence of ability to provide academic leadership, including the ability to initiate and supervise research. Equivalent and relevant professional experience may also be considered.

Job Overview:
Graduate Assistant has the responsibility to perform a variety of support services. He/she will support the faculty members in carrying out their academic functions which may be understood as Teaching, Assessment of Students works, Research and Community Services as well as other administrative functions that may be assigned occasionally.
Qualification and experience:
The minimum qualifications required is a first University degree in the relevant field with a CGPA of not less than 3.5. The applicants are expected to be graduates of the University of The Gambia. Teaching experience will be an added advantage.
Job Title: Laboratory Technician (Biology, Chemistry and Physics)

Job Overview:
Under general supervision, The Lab Technician provides instructional support services by performing technical work in Biology, Chemistry or physics laboratories; orders, issues, prepares, and maintains laboratory materials, supplies, and associated equipment; assists in the preparation of laboratory experiments and demonstrations; performs related duties as required. Positions in the Laboratory Technician class are assigned duties requiring considerable technical knowledge and ability in the assigned field of specialization. Incumbents are expected to exercise independent judgment in the performance of duties and are responsible for supervising and maintaining all laboratory supplies, materials, equipment, and records. Positions in this class specialize in the assigned subject area.
Qualification and Experience:
The minimum qualification required for the Laboratory Technician (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) positions is a good honours degree in the following fields; Biology, Chemistry or Physics) from a recognized University. Some experience as a laboratory technician in the appropriate subject field will be an added advantage.
Job Title: University Librarian

Job Overview:
The Librarian shall provide Academic and Professional services in the University Library. Main duties include though are not limited to directing in selecting, acquiring, cataloging, circulating, and maintaining library resources. Manage access to database and information systems and ensure that library provision meets the user’s needs.
Qualification and Experience:
PhD in Library Sciences from recognized University with at least 12 good publications. A minimum of 12 years post qualification experience in University Library or cognate Institution is required for this position. Must be conversant and have the ability to teach Dewey Decimal Classification and Library of Congress Classification.
Job Title: Consultancy Manager

Job Overview:
Responsible for the implementation of the UTG Consultancy Policy for the Directorate of Research & Consultancy (DRC). Engage in the marketing of professional capacities and competencies of UTG staff on consultancy service, in order to bring opportunities and benefits to the University, its staff, and clients. Solicit consultancy services/opportunities for the UTG staff. Coordinate consultancy capacity building for the UTG staff. Coordinate and oversee the implementation of consultancy contracts between the university and the clients. Engage in issues that may help enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of generating income through consultancies. Coordinate in consultancy preparation, including the constitution of the UTG Staff consulting core team. Ensuring the interests of UTG and DRC are protected and well addressed by the consultancy core team. Lead the process of updating the UTG Consultancy Policy and Plan.
Qualification and Experience:
Must have a Master’s degree with thesis. At least 5 years’ experience in consultancy work or project management role. Demonstrated desire for excellence and an ability to inspire others to attain professional excellence; Must have excellent communication skills and demonstrate high ethical conduct and integrity; Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities; Must be a proactive self-starter with the ability to work independently; Good sense of humor, personable and demonstrated ability to build networks; Excellent organizational skills and attention to details; Good planning, organizational and time-management skills.
Job Title: Grant Administrator

Job Overview:
A grant administrator is responsible for administering grants awarded or received by the University. The administrator will also keep track of all requests for funding and as well as handling them carefully. Furthermore, he/she will process all documentation on grants as well as ensure that grants are used according to the terms and conditions for which they are granted.
Given that administering funds is at the heart of the responsibilities of the grant administrator, he/she needs to be meticulous in analyzing and distributing funds in the right amount to the right party in accordance with the objectives for which they are granted. Most importantly the grant administrator must always ensure that the grants comply with legal rules and regulations as well as ensuring that grants are awarded based on budgets.
Qualification and Experience:
At least a Master’s Degree holder in business administration, accounting, project management or any relevant field. Extensive familiarity with grants management and at least 5 years of experience on research or grant writing with a proven track record of wining grants for past institutions.
Job Title: Administrative Assistant (HR)

Job Overview:
The Administrative Assistant shall perform a variety of general administrative and clerical services. The incumbent shall assist in ensuring efficient and effective accomplishment of the department’s objectives and goals. Equally, the post holder shall serve as the coordinator of the department’s information, reporting, and communication strategies and activities. Administrative Assistant shall develop or maintain an accurate and up to date records management system.
Qualification & Experience:
A good honors degree in HR not below 2nd Class Division from recognized University. Ability to relate well with people and trainability. Must be Computer Literate. Evidence of any post-graduation working experience will be an advantage.
Job Title: Senior Accountant

Job Overview:
Assist in the implementation of general day-to-day Financial/Accounting duties. Senior Accountant shall be required to assist in preparing for periodic internal and annual external audits. Shall also assist in piloting and seeking final approval for system reports required for management, financial reporting and general ledger postings and reconciliations.
Qualification and Experience:
Partly qualified ACCA or similar qualification with a Bachelor degree in accounting or related field and four years of professional accounting experience are required. Master’s Degree in Accounting and Finance will be an added advantage.
Job Title: Assistant Accountant

Job Overview:
The Assistant Accountant shall perform a variety of general administrative duties to support the functions of the Finance Department. Among them is to assist in the preparation of quarterly reconciliation of prepayment accounts, Performing regular bank reconciliations and ensuring all unreconciled items are follow up and resolved.
Qualification and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and professional certification. One year of professional accounting, auditing or related experience, preferably in a non-profit sector will be an advantage.
Job Title: Assistant Internal Auditor

Job Overview:
Plans and executes various financial, compliance, and operational audits in accordance with accepted professional standards in order to determine compliance with institutional policies and procedures and adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
Qualification and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and professional certification. One year of professional auditing, accounting or related experience, preferably in a non-profit sector will be an advantage.

The Administrative Assistant shall perform a variety of general administrative and clerical services. The incumbent shall assist in ensuring efficient and effective accomplishment of the department’s objectives and goals. Equally, the incumbent shall work on general student and alumni affairs at the Directorate. Work closely with Student and Alumni Affairs Officer in executing the mandates of the directorate
