The University of The Gambia, through its Transport Department, in collaboration with Riders for Health The Gambia and Driving Schools and Safety Alliance Africa (DSSAA), launched a seven-week intensive Road Safety and Driving Skills Training Programme for its vehicle drivers, bus operators, and motorcyclists.
The launch ceremony, held at the UTG Faraba Banta Campus, brought together all university drivers and featured inspiring remarks and presentations from key administrative figures, including Mr. Sulayman Jammeh, Dr. William Jabang, Ms. Mariama Sallah, and Mr. Alhagie Ceesay, among others.
This transformative initiative is designed to enhance driving competence, instill road safety consciousness, and promote a culture of responsibility and professionalism within the UTG community. Participants are not only engaging in theoretical lessons but are also taking part in practical sessions, putting their knowledge to the test and sharpening their driving techniques in real-life scenarios.
Beyond the hands-on training, participants gained valuable insights into administrative processes, transport operations, and effective service delivery, ensuring a greater understanding of what it means to drive safely and responsibly on and off campus.
