Rector of Agence Universitaire de la Francophoni (AUF) visits UTG

On Monday the 11th of April, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of The Gambia and Management received in audience Prof. Slim Khalabous, the Rector Agence Universitaire de la Francophoni (AUF), and the AUF Regional Director.

In welcoming the diplomat to the Brikama Campus, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Herbert Robinson expressed gratitude over the visit while thanking AUF for its keen interest in the University of The Gambia.

“We have had our Digital Campus fully equipped by the AUF with state of the earth digitalization.  Space is also allocated for AUF’s intervention in the establishment of the Employability and Entrepreneurship Center at the UTG, and many other forms of support in academia. So we are very grateful for this” said Prof. Robinson.

For his part, the Rector of AUF said he is excited about their new office established in The Gambia. He highlighted the many ways that the two institutions can collaborate and foster development.

“We are determined to provide the opportunities for the University of The Gambia to have an established Employability and Entrepreneurship Center that properly addresses issues of employment and promotes entrepreneurship for national development. We hope this will enhance self-employment amongst graduates” Prof. Slim Khalabous. 

Quickly after the convergence at Brikama Campus, Prof. Khalabous, the Vice Chancellor, and Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, Prof. Pierre Gomez proceeded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Banjul to meet the Hon. Minister for Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation & Gambians Abroad and Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science & Technology (Dr. Mamadou Tangara & Mr. Badara Joof respectively) for the official signing of the establishment of the AUF Office in The Gambia.
