Orientation Ceremony Held For New Students  

The University of The Gambia (UTG) held orientation ceremony for  newly admitted students for the 2022/2023 First semester on the 26th of September 2022.

The event which was held at the University’s main campus in Kanifing brought together students admitted into various undergraduate and graduate programs offered for the 2022/2023 academic year. Also in attendance were the senior academic and administrative staff of the university .

Welcoming the new intakes, the University Registrar Dr. Momodou Lamin Tarro said the main objective of the orientation ceremony is to acquaint students with the fundamental principles, norms, and culture of UTG. “These core values have projected the image of this institution as a centre of learning and character molding of our students.”

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Herbert Robinson congratulated the 1,627 admitted students out of the 2,891 applications received and further highlighted that a university,      takes pride in producing honest, truthful, knowledgeable, skillful, productive, and patriotic citizens. We, therefore, implore you to be ready and willing to work with us as we prepare you for national development and to be global citizens,” said Prof. Robinson.

The Deans of the various faculties/schools and Directors of the different units within the University of The Gambia took turns to inform the students about the multitude of opportunitiess  available within the institution.

Students at the UTG are required to meet a certain number of credit hours of lectures, which vary based on the areas of study. They must also complete the courses outlined in their course catalog which include, but are not limited to, General Education Requirements (GER) and Departmental Requirement courses before they can graduate.
