The University of The Gambia (UTG) held its traditional orientation ceremony for the newly enrolled students for the 2021/2022 second semester on the 11th of February, 2022.
The event held at the University’s main campus in Kanifing brought together students admitted into various undergraduate and graduate programs offered for the 2021/2022 academic year, senior academic and administrative staff of the university were in attendance.
Welcoming the new intakes, the University Registrar Dr. Momodou Lamin Tarro described the UTG as the center for the transformation of The Gambia through the conception, application, and transmission of knowledge as defined in the University’s motto.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Herbert Robinson congratulates the 1,241 admitted students out of the 2,139 applications received, the seasoned academic further highlighted the University’s operational structures and said “ Students are the most important stakeholders in a university. Our focus is therefore on enhancing your learning experience. Education is transformational and it is a force for good.”
The Deans of the various faculties/schools and Directors of the different units within the University of The Gambia took turns to inform the students about the different activities available in their various departments and schools.
Students at the UTG are required to meet a certain number of credit hours of lectures, which vary based on the areas of study. They must also complete the courses outlined in their course catalog which include, but are not limited to, General Education Requirements (GER) and Departmental Requirement courses before they can graduate.
