(2020/2021 ACADEMIC YEAR)

The School of Graduate Studies and Research, University of The Gambia, is pleased to invite applications for admission into its 2-year LLM Degree Programme in Law and its 3- year PhD Programme in Law.

Requirements for Admission

1-Master of Laws (LLM)
Candidates for the LL.M must have a good first degree (at least 2nd Class Lower Division) in Law from The University of The Gambia or any other recognized University. A CQPA of at least 3.000 on 4.300 scale.
In exceptional cases a candidate with a CQPA of not less than 2.600 on 4.300 scale of the University of The Gambia or 2nd Class lower degree with at least not less than 5 years post call legal practice may be considered.

Duration of programme
Full time: 4 Semesters
Part time: 6 Semesters

2-PhD in Law
Candidates seeking admission into the Ph.D. in Law programme of University of The Gambia must possess the following Minimum Requirement:
i. A Master of Laws Degree (L.L.M) of University of The Gambia or any other institution recognized by University of The Gambia.
ii. An LLM/MPHIL Law degree of the University of the Gambia or any other University recognized by University of The Gambia.
iii. The candidate must possess the foundational Degree, which is Bachelor of Laws (L.L.B)
iv. The candidate’s transcript must disclose that he has a minimum CQPA of 3.000 points on a scale of 4.300 points or 60%.
v. The candidate must submit three referees report, attesting to his competence and state of mind to pursue the programme.

Duration of programme
Full time: 6 Semesters
Part time: 8 Semesters

Application forms are available at The University Accounts Office, Kanifing Campus at a non-refundable fee of D500 for Masters Application forms and D1000 for PhD application forms. Payment for application forms can be made at any Trust Bank Branch. Completed application forms, together with photocopies of relevant certificates and other supporting documents should reach the Admissions Office, Kanifing Campus, not later than November 30th, 2020.
