Job Title: Security Guards
Job Family: Administration
Reports to: Chief Security

Job Overview
As security Guard, you are responsible for the security, tidiness and upkeep of the entire campus.

Qualification and experience
A person shall be eligible for selection into the UTG Security Guard if he/she fulfils the following conditions:

The applicant must be a Gambian citizen.
He/she must not be less than 25 years and not more than 40 years at the date of hiring/recruitment.
The applicant must show a valid medical certificate certified by medical doctor to be physically and medically fit to serve as a security guard.
Applicant must possess a minimum educational qualification of Grade 9 Secondary School Certificate and be able to read and write in English.
Applicant must have completed a minimum of 5 and 9 years unbroken service record for members of the Police, Gambia Prisons Service and the Armed Forces respectively as an added advantage and be recommended by his/her former employer.
He/she must present copy of Certificate of Character from the Gambia Police Force.
He/she must be willing to work in all UTG locations and be willing to work in line with the approved roster.
Communication skills: to effectively communicate with others, especially in stressful situations
Good judgment in order to quickly identify the best course of action for dealing with dangerous situations as they arise
Observation skills in order to immediately notice anything out of the ordinary
Exhibit patience, calm and resilience.


Job Title: Assistant Electrician
Job Family: Administration
Reports to: Director of Facilities

Job Overview
As Maintenance Electrician, you are responsible for the day -to- day repairs of circuits, fittings and electrical appliances of the University. He/she will maintain a flexible working hour especially if he/she is to carry out emergency repairs in accordance with university maintenance.

Qualification and experience
Completion of an electrician program at a technical or trade school
Completion of an electrician apprenticeship program or practical experience after formal training is an added advantage
Possession of at least certificate level training from the GTTI, or its equivalent
3-5 years of proven electrical experience
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds /23kilograms
Ability to bend, climb, squat, reach, and kneel
Comfortable reading and understanding electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams
Working knowledge of electrical theory, and the associated principles, materials, and equipment
Demonstrated ability to operate hand and power tools associated with electrical work
Ability to calculate basic mathematical problems
Collaborative, Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills,
Decision-Making Ability
Good Listening Skills
Strong Verbal Communication

Job Title: Plumbers
Job Family: Administration
Reports to: Director of Facilities

Job Overview
As Plumber, you are responsible for the day -to -day maintenance and repair of the plumbing systems of the University.
Qualification and experience
Must have completed (a minimum) certificate level training in a trade school such as GTTI.
HND will be an added advantage
Must have at least 5 years post-training experience

Job Title: Cleaners
Job Family: Administration

Job Overview
As cleaner, regular and thorough cleaning of all spaces and equipment is a requirement for creating conducive learning, teaching and research environment.

Qualification and experience
A reasonable level of Physical fitness and ability to lift at least 25 lbs. or 11kg
Punctual, reliable and trustworthy
Able to manage time effectively
Ability to work both alone and in a team
Awareness of health and safety procedures
Reading and listening skills for following instructions
Must have at least obtained Grade 9 Secondary School Certificate with basic reading, writing and measuring skills
Great communication and customer service skills
Must be willing to work at different university locations
Must be willing to work after hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays
