POSITION TITLE: FACILITIES MANAGER

Job Overview
The Facilities Manager will oversee all building and ground maintenance of UTG. He/she will be responsible for ensuring that the facilities are safe and fully operational. The Facilities Manager also will be responsible for managing Contractors & training new employees in the Department.

Qualification and experience

5 years of experience in similar post and a Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines are required: Management, Development Studies, Engineering and any other related field from a recognized University. Training involving establishment and implementation of short and long-term organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies and operating procedures are considered as added advantage. Participation in executive level managerial seminars/conferences will be an added advantage as well. A strong background in policy formulation and strategies are equally required.

Position Title: Director of Research

Job Overview
The Director of Research has overall responsibility to provide leadership for innovative research, research governance, grant management, and for monitoring and evaluating quality processes in UTG. He/ She will be expected to promote excellence and integrity in research and scholarly activity. This means providing strong research leadership and creating a climate of inquiry and scholarship that encourages and motivates UTG faculty and students to conduct high quality research and test innovative ideas especially those of relevance to national development. He/ She will be expected to set standards to improve the quality of research conducted in UTG. This involves ensuring that UTG researchers adhere to recognized international ethical and scientific quality in their research, promote good practice in writing research proposals and research publications, reduce adverse incidents, periodically share lessons learned in implementing grants with faculty and students of UTG and prevent poor performance and misconduct.

Qualification and experience
The ideal candidate for this role should have a PhD degree, superior research leadership skills, great organizational qualities, a track record as the principal investigator in successfully securing and implementing international research grants; prior experience of conducting consultancies, and a track record of publications with a minimum of 7 publications in indexed peer review journals as the first author.

POSITION TITLE: DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH

Job Overview
The Deputy Director of Research shall assist the Director develop and coordinate UTG’s research program to support UTG’s goal of enhancing and increasing UTG research knowledge-base and The Gambia’s sustainable development areas. He/she will help develop a UTG research strategy that will support new knowledge generation, sustainable development, and emerging issues and also monitor and evaluate research guidelines (procedures, capacity development, cost, norms, budgeting, and performance incentive).

Qualification and experience
The candidate should hold a minimum Ph.D. degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources Management, Education, Business, or any Science-related area. Has at least a 3-year experience in research and human resource management with a minimum of three research publications within the last five years. He/she should have a strong leadership and fund- raising capabilities. He/she should possess and exhibit analytical, technical, and good writing skills through evidence of publications and also possesses negotiation, conflict management and resolution, and networking skills. Computer skills and knowledge of relevant software will be an added advantage.

POSITION TITLE: Chief Security Officer

Job Overview

The Chief Security Officer will be responsible for the security of the UTG property and campuses
⦁ Conduct security audits to identify potential vulnerabilities related to physical security, staff safety, or asset protection.
⦁ Ability to engineer, install, maintain, or repair security systems, programmable logic controls, or other security-related electronic systems.
⦁ Recommend improvements in security systems or procedures.
⦁ Perform risk analyses to determine appropriate countermeasures.
⦁ Design security policies, programmes, or practices to ensure adequate security relating to asset protection, alarm response, access card use, and other security needs.
⦁ Assess the nature and level of threats so that the scope of the problem can be determined.
⦁ Design, implement, or establish appropriate work schedules for the security guards in all campuses.
⦁ Respond to emergency situations on an on-call basis.
⦁ Prepare, maintain, or update security procedures, security system drawings, or related documentation.
⦁ Train the security personnel in security procedures or use of security equipment.
⦁ Budget and schedule security design work.
⦁ Prepare documentation for case reports or court proceedings.
⦁ Interview witnesses or suspects to identify persons responsible for security breaches or to establish losses, pursue prosecutions, or obtain restitution.

POSITION TITLE: GRANT WRITER

Job Overview

Roles and responsibilities
The grant writer will support the UTG grant writing team by:

  1. Identifying resource requirement for each opportunity
  2. Working with the Grant writing team, researchers and research assistants for grant writing and proposal development.
  3. Delivering complete proposals according to each donor requirements
  4. Lead in the development of a fundraising strategy.
  5. Design tools and systems, including donor scoping to maximize and diversify funding income.
  6. Develop proposals in collaboration with other stakeholders to raise funds on behalf of UTG.
  7. Participate in negotiations with potential donor organizations.
  8. Take part in monitoring and evaluation of grants in line with donor requirements.
  9. Provide assistance and facilitation to all organizational funding activities
  10. Preparation of quarterly and annual fundraising report for University Management Team (SMT).
  11. Participate in monitoring the implementation of the fundraising strategy.
  12. Participate in fundraising capacity building of staff and partners.
  13. Maintain close working relationships with the donor community.
  14. Represent UTG at donor initiated events and functions
  15. Facilitate and participate in all organizational fundraising initiatives.
  16. Carry out constant scanning of environment (including virtual scanning of potential donor websites) to seek information on donor initiatives
  17. Work with Management and UTG staff in general to develop and share information on fundraising
  18. Establish & maintain adequate data base of donors and funding activities.
  19. Promote ongoing organizational, team and individual learning and knowledge sharing
  20. Coach and train key individual staff members and partners to raise their fundraising skills
  21. Organize workshops as necessary to inform and raise skills-base of UTG staff & Partners

Job Overview

The Director of Student Affairs is responsible for the overall functioning and performance of the directorate. He/she shall be responsible for student affairs by providing day-to- day leadership and direction in relation to policies, practices, systems and operations, student activities, and campus life. The Directorate shall handle all student matters including guidance and counselling, complaints, grievances and appeals. He/she shall contribute to the university’s success by providing valuable input into the university’s strategic and operational plans, and help ensure that student(s) engagement is attained with respect to teaching and learning, research and their campus life.

Qualifications and Experience

Five (5) years of experience in a similar post and a master’s degree in any of the following disciplines are required: Student Affairs Administration, Guidance and Counselling, Psychology, Management, and any other related field from a recognized university. JOB OVERVIEW

Director of Planning and Quality Assurance (DPQA) shall be responsible for planning and developing the strategic plan of the University of The Gambia in consultation with faculties. The Director shall also coordinate the implementation of the strategic and operational plans of the university and develop, implement and maintain a quality assurance policy in line with national regulations and standards as well as to identify quality gaps for improvement in the university and recommend appropriate solutions.
The Director of Planning and Quality Assurance shall be the process owner for the institutional and programmes accreditation processes.


Qualifications and Experience

Five (5) years of experience in a similar post with at least a PhD degree in any of the following disciplines is required: Planning, Quality Assurance or Quality Management, Human Resource Management, Management, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or any other related field from a recognized University. Job Overview

Responsible for establishing and maintaining effective relationships with government institutions and media representatives; the Director shall develop and oversee a comprehensive communication, marketing, and public relations programmes that represent a cohesive and consistent image and message supporting the university’s vision and mission. DUR shall also formulate policies in relation to its office functions and managing daily operations, and facilitating establishment of all linkages and collaborations between UTG and other institutions within and outside The Gambia.

Qualification and Experience
Five (5) years of experience in a similar post and a master’s degree in any of the following disciplines are required: International Relations, Diplomacy and Negotiations, Management, Law, Political Science, Public Administration/Public Sector Management, Economics, Journalism and Human Resources Management and any other related field from a recognized University. JOB TITLE:DIRECTOR OF AGRICULTURAL EXPERIMENTAL FARM

Job Overview

Responsible for supervising the support staff including security guards, gardeners, casual laborers, their recruitment and deployment; the Director shall also coordinate general maintenance and improvement of farm buildings, fields, fences, etc. Moreover, he/she shall be responsible for allocation of research plots or areas, machinery labour to researchers during their work, repair farm implements, and any other work assigned by Dean/HOD.


Qualification and Experience
Five (5) years of experience in similar post and a Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines are required: Horticulture, Animal Science, Pomology and any other related field from a recognized University.

Job Overview
Director of Sports and Recreation shall be responsible for providing guidance, direction and organization of sport activities. The Director shall also coordinate the formulation and implementation of policies on sports and recreation. Moreover, he/she shall be responsible for preparing budgets and guide Management on allocating resources for the purchase of sport/recreational equipment and the upkeep of facilities.
Qualification and Experience
