The University of The Gambia is pleased to introduce a new Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) programme in Land Management and Governance under the Department of Community Building and Design. The programme is designed to equip students with the knowledge and practical skills required to address contemporary challenges in land administration, planning, and governance. The programme comprises 38 core courses, including two internship placements and a final-year research project undertaken in the second semester.
Students pursuing the programme are required to complete two (2) elective courses for the major and nine (9) General Requirement (GER) courses. There are no Divisional Requirements (DER) for the programme.
Entry Qualifications
Applicants seeking admission into the programme must satisfy one of the following requirements:
Direct Entry (WASSCE/SSCE/IGCSE or Equivalent)
A minimum of five (5) credits, including English Language and Mathematics (both mandatory), one (1) subject from Geography, History, Economics, or Government/Civics, one (1) subject from the Natural Sciences, and one (1) subject from the Social Sciences or Technical Drawing.
Advanced Entry
Applicants holding an HND or Diploma of not less than two years’ duration in relevant fields such as Surveying, Planning, Estate Management, Agriculture, Law, or Land Management from a recognized institution, with a minimum GPA of 3.0, may be admitted subject to credit transfer assessment.
Mature Entry
Applicants aged 30 years and above, with at least five (5) years of relevant work experience in the land sector and possessing a minimum of three (3) credits, including English Language and Mathematics, may be considered for admission based on an oral interview.
International Students
International applicants with equivalent qualifications may be admitted following assessment by the UTG Admissions Office and the School concerned, with proof of English language proficiency where necessary.
