Advancing UTG’s Global Engagement
The International Relations Office (IRO) of the University of The Gambia (UTG) serves as the University’s central gateway for internationalisation, global partnerships, and cross-border academic collaboration. The Office plays a strategic role in positioning UTG within the global higher education landscape by cultivating purposeful international relationships that strengthen teaching, learning, research, and institutional development.
Through strategic partnerships, international mobility programmes, and globally funded projects, the IRO advances UTG’s vision of becoming a globally connected university that responds effectively to national, regional, and international development priorities.

Erasmus+ and International Mobility
The University of The Gambia actively participates in the Erasmus+ Programme, which provides valuable opportunities for:
- Student mobility for studies and traineeships
- Staff mobility for teaching and professional training
- Capacity-building and institutional development projects
Through Erasmus+ and other international mobility schemes, UTG students and staff gain international exposure, intercultural competence, and professional growth, while contributing to academic excellence and institutional advancement.
The International Relations Office serves as the coordinating unit for all Erasmus+ activities at UTG, including partnership management, nominations, documentation, and mobility implementation.
International Partnerships
UTG maintains strategic partnerships with universities, research institutions, development agencies, and international organisations across Europe, Africa, and beyond. These collaborations support:
