CONVOCATION UPDATES FOR STAFF AND PROSPECTIVE GRADUANDS

Following consultations with relevant stakeholders, the University of The Gambia wishes to announce that attendance to its 13th
Convocation ceremony, slated for the 27th of
February, 2021 at the QCITY complex in Bijilo, will be restricted to the following:
graduands, University staff members, dignitaries and media houses.

It is a tradition that parents and
well-wishers alike, of the graduands, are invited to grace the convocation
ceremonies. However, this decision is necessitated by the recent surge in
Coronavirus cases in The Gambia and beyond. This year’s ceremony will be held
under strict health protocols. These protocols will be published in due course.

Below are important details about the
convocation for both the prospective graduands and members of staff.

  1. GOWNS

We have provided gowns for the ceremony.
All graduating students shall robe in full academic regalia. The gown rental
fee is D500.00 (both undergraduate and post graduate).

The amount should be paid to any Trust
Bank Ltd. branch and the receipt be tendered to the faculty officer of your
school.

Prospective graduands can collect their
gowns with effect from Friday 19th
February 2021 from 9:00 a.m. onwards at their schools.

The Faculty Officers will be responsible
for the distribution of gowns to the prospective graduands in the various
schools.

Please note that all prospective
graduands must tender their valid identification card (ID), passport or any
other national document before they can be handed the gowns.

  1. GOWNS FOR ACADEMIC STAFF

All Academic Staff members shall robe in
full academic regalia.

We encourage academic staff members to
collect their gowns from their respective Faculty Officers with effect from
Friday 19th
February 2021 from 9:00 a.m.

Academic staff members may also choose
to robe in their personal gowns.

  1. GOWNS FOR MEMBERS OF THE GOVERNING
    COUNCIL

Members of the University Governing
Council may robe in full academic regalia. The Senior Assistant Registrar
(Council matters) will distribute the gowns and invitation cards.

Council members may also robe in their
personal gowns.

Thank you.
