BRITISH HIGH COMMISSIONER VISITS UTG

On Monday the 26th, Vice Chancellor Prof. Faqir Muhammad Anjum received H.E David Belgrove, the British High Commissioner to The Gambia.

In welcoming the British diplomat to the Kanifing Campus, Vice Chancellor Anjum expressed gratitude to H.E Belgrove for his keen interest in the University.

“We are in a process of positioning the UTG as one of the best universities for students across Africa and beyond, therefore, collaboration is important for us.” Prof. Anjum said. He later delivered a brief presentation on the history, faculties, challenges and plans
of the University.

“I am honoured to be here today”, H.E Belgrove said,“ because what you do is building the foundation for the country, you’re building the human capacity” he added.

“The education you are offering focuses so much on the skills and capacity that this country needs,” the diplomat said, as he applauds the work of the University and his readiness to support UTG with links to institutions in the U.K.

Other speakers at the reception, held at the Peace Building, included Prof.Pierre Gomez, Ag. Vice Chancellor (Academic) and Mr. Momodou Lamin Tarro, the University Registrar.
